Bangladeshi radical islamist Teacher Disciplines Student by Cutting Hair for not wearing Hijab

A radical Islamist teacher named Runia Sarkar has been accused of cutting the hair of students for not wearing hijab in Munshiganj, Bangladesh. The incident took place at Syedpur Abdur Rahman School and College in Rajanagar of upazila at around 3 pm on Wednesday (February 28). Sirajdikhan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sabbir Ahmed confirmed this news around 10 pm.

They said that 10-12 students including 7th class students Maisa Jahan, Maisa Akhtar, Tanzila Akhtar, Anil Akhtar, Tasfia, Mahadia, Sumaiya and Ifasag had their hair cut for not wearing hijab. Maisa Jahan and Tanjila Akhtar’s house in Syedpur, Anila Akhtar and Tasfia’s house in Mohammadpur, Mahadia and Sumaiya’s house in Madhupur, Ifa’s house in Baikhola.

Maisa Jahan’s father Kohinur said, “If my daughter had done something wrong, we would have disciplined her.” He cut his hair and made him a beard. So my daughter is broken. He doesn’t want to go to school anymore.’

On condition of anonymity, a teacher said, “The current president, Engineer Md. Golam Hossain Sahib changed the dress code of boys and girls after becoming the president, he put a lot of pressure on the teachers and asked them to take any action in this regard.

Meanwhile, when the accused teacher Rumia tried to contact, her phone was found switched off.

Principal of the institution. Farid Ahmed said, there were scissors in the class, so he got it close at hand and did the job. I heard that some hair was cut to scare people, but it was wrong. We will take action.
